NO LYCRA BIKERS

Bike 1

A beautiful morning, sat in my den with writers block, sod it! I get my old bike (road & trail) out of the shed. I head south out of Middlewich, towards Crewe, along Sutton Lane, the old Roman road. It soon peters out to a track down into the valley of the river Wheelock a hard slog up the other side, along a stream with the trees a tunnel above, providing shade. Emerging at Wimboldsley I turn left along lanes used as the Cheshire cycling route towards Sandbach. I see no Lycra Bikers today. Left again and past Tetton Hall horse farm, with splendid beasts, their eyes upon me as I speed past, I ride over the Wheelock again, and over depressions caused by old salt pans, now fishing lakes. Arriving at the Sandbach road, I turn left back to Middlewich, past the old Salt works on the right hand side. A worthy trek.
