Marian Clowes works for a recruitment company assisting unemployed people to gain employment. False claims are made to a government funding body.
Marian is a suspected whistle blower. She is also a member of Harmony Earth which is protesting against a company prospecting for shale gas. Friday evening she is celebrating her birthday in The Lowry Hotel, Manchester. The next morning her body is found in the river Irwell.
Marian’s boss disappears along with the Contract Manager of FrackUK. Enigmatic sleuth the Gent becomes involved
